These days a lot of gossips around the web emerged about Sony developing a classic style phone under the Cyber-shot and Walkman brand. The phones codename is Sony Honami and its specs are rumored to include a 20mp camera and a 4 core Snapdragon 800 cpu.

If the rumors are correct (please be correct) we can expect the phone to get a 1/2.3 matrix and suitable optics. A 5 inch X-Reality Full HD display  is expected. The CPU is expected to be Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 clocked at about 2.3 GHz, the GPU - Adreno 330 and 2 GB of RAM. The phone will also get the traditional humidity and dust protection by IP 55/57 standards.

Google recently announced that their reader is due to be retired in July 1, 2013. The official reason is quote:

There are two simple reasons for this: usage of Google Reader has declined, and as a company we’re pouring all of our energy into fewer products. We think that kind of focus will make for a better user experience.

While this may be sudden, Google is giving us a 3-month “sunset” period in which we have to find another reader, back up our subscriptions and other data we don’t want to loose.

Adobe released their Photoshop Touch app for smartphones, running iOS or Android which, until now, was only available to tablet owners. The app supports working with layers, filters and instruments from the older (tablet) version, gesture commands, as well as a file sharing option via Twitter and Facebook. With this new version, users also get 2 GB of cloud service from Creative Cloud.http://www.kaldata.com/img/image-8546_512DB670.jpg

Currently, the app supports only English, German, French and Japanese languages (unlike it’s tablet analog, which supports more languages). It was announced that later on there will be a plugin which will enable users to transfer graphical files from their Desktop machines to their mobile device.

The app is available for purchase through iTunes(iOS 5+) and the Google Play store(Android 4.0+).

    PS4 announcement is a mostly positive non-surprise

Yesterday Sony announced their next generation gaming console – the Play Station 4. The conference focused mainly on the technology used in the console and what it can do. Several demos, showing the wonderful graphics that the system is capable of rendering were shown. And all of them were jaw-dropping!

What do we know so far for the PS4?

    • PS4 is scheduled to be  released around the 2013 holiday season. ds4
    • New DualShock 4 controller, featuring a touch pad (more ways to play a game!), a headphones (and probably a microphone) jack and a light bar. Basically you have a simplified PSP for a controller.
    • The architecture:
      • X86 based APU.
      • 8GB DDR5 shared memory.
      • HDD storage (unconfirmed size)
      • Dedicated chip for background processes.
    • Ability to record gameplay is built in.
    • Improved PSN.

What games can we expect on it?

    • Blizzard`s Diablo 3
    • Bungie`s Destiny
    • inFamous Second Son
    • Ubisoft`s Watch Dogs
    • Capcom`s Deep Down and their new engine – Panta Rhei
    • KillZone: Shadow Fall
    • Unreal engine 4
    • Square`s “Final Fantasy” game

With all of this information, the precise technical specifications of the console and other details like it’s price and will it be backward compatible (i.e Can we play PS3 games on it) are still unknown. Furthermore the actual console was not shown. Still, the console looks sounds promising and impressive.

    Wine for Android coming soon

We all know Wine – that program for Linux, which enables us to run windows apps. Recently, the team behind Wine announced that they will be releasing it for Android OS, and it will be available for purchase directly from the Play Store.

The projects current state is porting the program to work on ARM devices, afterwards it should be fairly simple to integrate its functionalities. A working version was presented by Alexandre Julliard on an emulated android environment under OS X. As you probably guessed, the performance was extremely SLOW (being an emulated environment), but apart from that there were no other significant problems.

A release date is yet to be announced.
